Pretty unconventional stuff and sometimes funny. There is no mention of Apple in the ad at all, which is what I was naturally expecting to see. This ad made me realize how much I miss Seinfeld. It been pretty cool to have other ads with Morty, Newman and Elaine. Take a look for yourself. I can go for a Churro right about now!

The Poetic Prophet, AKA The SEO Rapper breaks down the world of designing with web standards with this amazing video. The Lyrics are simply awesome.

Your site design is the first thing people see
it should be reflective of you and the industry
easy to look at with a nice navigation
when you can’t find what you want it causes frustration

a clear Call to action to increase the temptation
use appealing graphics they create motivation
if you have animation
use with moderation
cause search engines can’t index the information

display the logos of all your associations
highlight your contact info that’s an obligation
create a clean design you can use some decoration
but to try to prevent any client hesitation

every page that they click should provide and explanation
should be easy to understand like having a conversation
when you design the style go ahead and use your imagination

but make sure you use correct color combinations
do some investigation, look at other organizations
but don’t duplicate or you might face a litigation
design done, congratulations but it’s time to start construction

follow these instructions when you move into production
your photoshop functions then slice that design
do your layout with divs make sure that it’s aligned
please don’t use tables even though they work fine
when it come to indexing they give searches a hard time

make it easy for the spiders to crawl what you provide
remove font type, font color and font size
no background colors, keep your coding real neat

tag your look and feel on a separate style sheet
better results with xml and css
now you making progress, a lil closer to success
describe your doctype so the browser can relate
make sure you do it great or it won’t validate

check in all browsers, I do it directly
gotta make sure that it renders correctly
some use IE, some others use Flock
some use AOL, I use Firefox

title everything including links and images
don’t use italics, use emphasis
don’t use bold, please use strong
if you use bold that’s old and wrong

when you use CSS, you page will load quicker
client satisfied like they eating on a snicker
they stuck on your page like you made it with a sticker
and then they convert now that’s the real kicker
make you a lil richer, your site a lil slicker

design and code right man I hope you get the picture
what I’m telling you is true man it should be a scripture
if it’s built right you’ll be the pick of the litter
everyone will want to follow you like twitter
competition will get bitter and you’ll shine like glitter

if you trying to grow your company will get bigger
design and code right man can you get with it

AdSense Video Units is here! Get great video content from YouTube for your site and earn extra revenue along the way. So now you can make money and enhance your site with high quality, relevant video content from YouTube partners, and earn extra revenue along the way. To get started just log in to your AdSense account and click on the AdSense Setup tab. You will see a new product listed there called Video Units.

Clicking on Video Units the first time will take you to a page where you are shown a video presentation on Video Units. here is the video:

So how do you actually make money with Video Units? The FAQ section of Video Units talks about this. When you place a video unit on your website, you’ll earn revenue from two types of ad formats: companion ads, which sit above your video content within the player and can be either text or image-based, and text overlay ads, which appear in the bottom 20% of the video content area. Ads on video units can be paid on either a cost-per-click or cost-per-thousand impression basis.

So companion ads are like banner ads and text overlay ads are like AdWords ads.

The setup page walks you through creating the code to place on your site and is quite simple to use. You just pick a color theme, the size of the video ad unit and you can also filter the content to be shown in your player. You can also save the player by giving it a name and description.

Video units come in 3 different sizes:

400 x 415

500 x 510

780 x 560

You can pick from 9 preset color schemes:

Click on Generate Code, Copy the code, and Paste it into your site. Below is a sample video unit which I’ve created for testing out the service.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Some of the advantages of Video Units over regular ads are:

You will now deliver content to your site as opposed to ads. You can also make the content relevant by choosing from categories you wish to have shown. The ads in videos are not obtrusive and you make money from them. You are actually enhancing the user experience and helping to attract and retain users.

Joost, which is pronounced “Juiced” from the makers of Skype is planning to do to Television what Napster did to the music industry. The business plan is to make money from commercials and share that revenue with content partners. While it runs on any PC today, Joost will eventually start selling TiVo / Xbox like hardware due to its graphic intensive nature. With time most TV watchers will switch from cable or sattelite to super highspeed internet connections that feeds into their flatscreen TVs. So, what does this mean for the future? What can it do for you today? I took the Joost beta for a test spin to find out.

I installed Joost on a Windows XP machine. It is only offered for Windows at the time. The installation was a snap and the sign-up process took less than 1 minute. Joost has a super simple user interface and needs little to no user interaction initially. Upon loading Joost, it goes into full screen mode and starts to play content, mirroring the experience of turning on your TV. This is quite unique compared to online video sites today such as YouTube or iTunes. It is a direct competition to TV. If you want to give it a whirl yourself, I can send you an invite. Just add your email below. Here are some screenshots and some details on its features:

First Impressions

User interaction is optional. This a very cool feature and I can see other websites will start copying this format soon.

Sound quality is great. Video is not HD quality but is quite good.

Content available from MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and SI to name a few. CBS just signed with Joost so soon you will be able to watch shows like CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, CBS Evening News, CBS Sportsline, and Survivor. There are also a ton of independent channels from around the world such as The Soccer Channel, U.S. Soccer, XL Recordings Channel, Red Bull, Roadrunner Records, and Brazilian Music Channel.

“Community watching”: Joost has a chat widget, which looks very promising. This is where things get interactive. You can talk to other people who are watching the same content. It also shows the count of people watching the show

Advertisements: are already plugged in between clips. Small text and banner ads are also shown in the corner of the screen periodically. Clicking on links shrinks the application nicely to the bottom of your screen while you surf the web.

Short URLs: You can link to any video on Joost via the tiny url format.

Rating: Shows can be rated by users

Search: The results can be saved a channel which is very powerful. I wish my TiVo had this feature. But like TiVo you can pause, rewind and fast-forward.

Performance: is not very smooth on my test machine which has a 2.4GHz CPU with 1GB of RAM. I was at about 90% CPU usage in full screen mode and 65% at using the windowed mode. At times I do get choppy sound and pauses in the stream. Joost uses a P2P technology that is somewhat similar to bit torrent, so while you are watching a clip you are also uploading it to other viewers.

Joost has tons of potential. As more companies start creating Joost Channels their competition will have to do the same. We will probably see more top name brands creating original programming and having their own channel on Joost.

Will Joost do a revenue sharing deal with amateur content makers? If so, will the YouTube crowd migrate to Joost? Will Joost stay free and adopt the Google model or go the NetFlix route and become an online VOD service? How will Google respond? What about iTunes? I’m sure others are frantically working to come up with similar competing products. Are cable companies worried about losing subscribers or will Joost just help boost the demand for their broadband services? How long before we see a Joost Mobile service that would compete with the likes of MobiTV and Helio? How long before we have an open source version of Joost?
