On Godaddy accounts, for example, it's easy to setup an FTP user which would see /full/path/to/wp-content/uploads as its "root" and so you would only specify ftp://user:pass@domain.com and no further path. This feature would have been dead handy for doing sneaky blog posts from work (if I could get it working), but everytime i post it informs me "Word cannot Publish your post" and then gives you the oppurtunity to click on a more information box which takes you straight to the Office online page about Word 2007 blogging, but gives no reason as to why its not working.
